Adidas, Fleet Feet Austin Make Donation to Northeast Early College High School

Fleet Feet Austin and Adidas recently brought some joy to the Northeast Early College High School Boys and Girls Cross Country and Soccer teams, faciliating a donation of 86 pairs of running shoes and indoor & outdoor soccer cleats for student athletes and staff.

Elias Barahona, Assistant Principal Intern and Teacher at International High School (which shares a campus with Northeast ECHS), was critical in allocating the shoes and cleats to the cross country and soccer teams, in addition to Custodial and Security staff.

Evan Landez, Adidas' beloved Brand Specialist, helped bring the opportunity to life, coordinating two separate footwear donations with Barahona at the Northeast Early College HS and International HS campuses. 

The Northeast Early College High School is home to one of several state-of-the-art mini-pitches donated by the 4ATX Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Austin FC. To this point, the 4ATX Foundation has constructed seven mini-pitches across Austin and Central Texas. The mini pitches are free to use, open to the public, and dedicated to providing a safe place for families to gather and play.

The Northeast Early College High School 2023-24 student demographics, provided by the Austin International School District, show 91.7% of the student body is economically disadvantaged.

Elias serves to connect the campus and community, working to create stronger bonds between organizations like the 4ATX Foundation and students. Barahona was recently honored as a 2024 Legend Of The Year by the 4ATX Foundation for his work within the Austin community.

"This partnership has already had a tremendous impact and we hope to continue building on this for years to come," Barahona shared following the donation.
