ASEIvis!

Dust off those Blue Suede Shoes. Every year for the past several years Fleet Feet Sports Chicago has sponsored the Elvis Is Alive 5K on the second Thursday evening in August. But not this year. S0000... The Lake Run Club and Fleet Feet Sports in Bloomington are sponsoring the first ever ASEIvis.

It's a bit like the ASE (Another Stupid Event) usually seen in the fall or winter. It's not officially timed. It's very casual. It's free. There are no shirts. There is a proposed route, but you can run shorter or longer if you wish. It will be FUN!

But it's a bit different too. It has a sponsor (thanks Fleet Feet!). Elvis Costumes are encouraged (go ahead — have some fun). Or Priscilla Costumes. Or 60's outfits. There will be MUSIC (Elvis of course). There will be some refreshments (and who doesn't love Peanut Butter Banana Sandwiches?).

So, the details: The "Event" is the second Thursday in August. That's August 13th. It's happening at Lake Bloomington, near Green Gables. It's gonna start "officially" at about 5:30 PM. Costumes, while never required are encouraged, especially Elvis Costumes. Fleet Feet will provide peanut butter/banana sandwiches (Elvis's favorite) and recovery drinks as well as a prize for the Best Elvis Costume.

After the run, continue your FUN at one of the great Lake Bloomington eateries, for the food and beverages of your choice.
