Hoka Carbon X
Derek Knabe, one our resident speedsters was recently invited along with Sam Stevens-Jones to take part in world record attempts at the 100K distance which included a 10x10K mixed gender relay team that he was a part of! The goal, break the records in the new Hoka Carbon X that drops this month. Check out Derek’s review here...and btw...they beat the previous World Record, while Jim Walmsley simultaneously broke the 50 mile world record!
This shoe ROCKS!! After racing in Hoka One One's Carbon X this past weekend it has definitely earned a spot in my rotation of shoes.
The main competition in the category of shoes with carbon plates in them is Nike's Vaporfly 4%, but the Carbon X stands out from the competition in multiple different areas.
The Carbon X will be on the market June 1st at a price point of $180, which is $70 cheaper than the competition and with Hoka's signature rocker built in the shoe makes running easy paces or race paces feel effortless. Another key feature is that the shoe has a wider last and overall wider footbed area providing much more stability and support in the shoe compared to the competition.
For me personally I'll be using the Carbon X for most of my road races in the future, but because it's more durable than the competition, I'll also be using it for my long runs during training. Even with the responsiveness of the carbon plate inside the shoe, it's still light and cushioned and will be perfect for long runs in the future. Hoka really outdid themselves on this one, nothing but good things to say about this shoe!!
