Tracey Ebeling has always been active, but she says that she “accidentally started running on purpose” as she was going through a difficult time years ago. She tells us that it finally clicked when she was sleeping better, was able handle stress with a clear mind, was able to control her weight better and was in an all-around more pleasant mood.
Tracey started signing up for family 5K races with her son and found that she was having a blast running with him instead of cheering him on from the sidelines. And as a bonus she found so many kind, like-minded people who had great stories of their own. “At that point I know I wasn’t alone”, she shared.
Over the years consistency had been a challenge, so she made it a point to shoot for new and more challenging goals. First it was training for 10Ks, and then half marathons and trail running. And then…she found sprint triathlons where she could bike, swim AND run. Now as a mentor she can train and encourage women who have a desire to challenge themselves and cross a finish line in triathlons as well.
We can’t say it any better than Tracey did – “…running has given me the opportunity to increase my confidence, keep my strength and endurance on track as I age, venture into other athletic opportunities, but most of all make lifelong friends that continue to inspire me to never give up and always believe that I CAN DO IT!! Crossing that finish line is something you can’t explain until you do it.”
