An Update on the 2016 Lacamas Lake Half Marathon & 6K
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the Lacamas Lake Half Marathon & 6K for 2016.
As with many Pacific Northwest running races, we’ve seen a downward trend in registration as our market has become saturated with events. We’ve seen big players like Rock ‘n’ Roll come and go, and many of our favorite long-running local races have seen low runner turnout and are selling out later, if at all. Costs have skyrocketed, from city permits and road closures to police presence and equipment rental. We would have to charge participants much more than we’re comfortable with doing. For now, we would like to thank everyone who has been involved with this event over the last 13 years, especially the city and residents of Camas, Washington and all of the runners who joined us to race around Lacamas Lake. You can be sure that if circumstances change, we’ll be back in 2017.
There is a silver lining in all this; we’ll now be able to dedicate our resources to better support our partners and their races. We’re partnering with some pretty amazing event companies and races this year who are doing great things in our community - you’ll find us cheering you on at many of Why Racing Events’ upcoming races and at the finish line of plenty of other awesome races including the Twilight Run, Youngberg Hill Half, and the Dionysus Dash.
We’re also refocusing on our very own First Thursday Urban Adventure Run. Rest assured, First Thursday will continue, bigger and better than ever! We still have four more events to go for this year, June through September, that we can’t wait to put on for you. We hope you’ll join us!
For those of you who have already signed up for this year’s race, we’re truly sorry for canceling and suggest you check out Race Center NW’s calendar of races - there are many great options for races in early August. There’s nothing you need to do to get your refund; we’re working with our registration site to get the money sent back to you automatically.
