Faces of Fleet Feet: Jesse Timm

We're excited to continue our "Faces of Fleet Feet" series featuring the wonderful staff that make our in-store atmosphere so special. These features serve to bridge the gap and make those faces you see in the store every day that much more familiar. If you haven't read the previous ones, be sure to check them out!

Today, we're excited to highlight Tacoma outfitter and inventory specialist, Jesse Timm.

How did you get started in run specialty (or at Fleet Feet)?
In early 2016, I moved to Tacoma and wandered in the local Fleet Feet to inquire about running groups and to see what shoes they stocked. I spoke with Angela (the manager) and she asked if I was looking for work, which I was. I had a job with Fleet Feet Tacoma a couple weeks later.
What do you do outside of Fleet Feet?
Running is an obvious hobby of mine. I run. A lot. I also spend a good deal of time writing in various mediums. I'm currently working on several artistic projects, both solo and collaborative works.

What stands out to you about working at Fleet Feet?
I love solving customer issues as they pertain to kinesis. Movement, running in particular, but not exclusively, is life-giving and meditative for me. It keeps me grounded. I love sharing that with others, especially those who are struggling with issues or injuries. I love seeing frustration turn into hopefulness.
What's your go-to shoe and why?
I have many go-to shoes, but right now the On Cloudflow and the Topo Flylite are the shoes toward which I tend to gravitate. I love stripping away excess padding and bulk so my body can be freer to move how it wants.
Do you have any exciting race stories or big running accomplishments?
Last year, I completed my first 50 mile race up in Squamish, BC. It took me fourteen hours to complete and it was the most physically arduous experience of my life. At times I was over the moon with joy and appreciation for my ability to run through the mountains in such a way, and at times I was in more physical discomfort than I had encountered up to that point in my life. I lived lifetimes up in the mountains of Squamish and emerged alive, already thinking about my next ultra.
