Safety Policy
Fleet Feet Sports Kingsport upholds the safety of our training program, fun run and pub run participants and fellow fitness enthusiasts as our highest priority. We invite all participants to join us in taking the following pledge:
As a fitness enthusiast in the Kingsport Community, I pledge to...
- Promote safety within the community through my behavior both as a pedestrian and as a driver
- Adhere to pedestrian and traffic laws
- Run and walk on sidewalks whenever available
- Be respectful of other pedestrians on the Greenbelt
- Make myself visible to traffic and other pedestrians by wearing reflective gear and clothing
- Address my medical needs and overall health to ensure I am medically able and properly trained to participate
- Maintain safe and cautious behavior to avoid accident and to prevent injury
- Enhance my safety by maintaining full awareness of my surroundings and agreeing to participate without headphones, animals or other potential distractions
- Carefully navigate the designated course for each event and adhere to the assigned route
- Respect the members of the community where we run and walk, as well as fellow participants
- Carry identification complete with emergency contact information at all workouts
Safety Tips
- Wear identification
- Let someone know where you are going
- Find a buddy to run with, especially in the dark
- Run against traffic and do not assume drivers will stop for pedestrians. Be on the defensive at all times
- Carry money in case of an emergency
- Carry your cell phone
- Keep headphones at home so you can hear other pedestrians, cars, and are aware of your surroundings
Weather Policy
With this in mind, here are the general guidelines for when Fleet Feet Sports Kingsport will cancel training program workouts or group runs:
- Extreme Cold (temperature is below zero Fahrenheit)
- Extreme Heat (temperature/heat index is above 100)
- Greenbelt/Road is Icy or Flooded
- Ice storm/hail/extremely poor visibility
- Tornado warnings and/or high winds
- Thunderstorm (lightning is present)
- Heavy Snow or Flooding

Program Start: ex: Sunday, January 18th, 6:00pm
Program Fee: ex: $100 excluding race fee
Description: If you intend on coming to a scheduled run and the weather is questionable, be sure to check our Facebook page or call the store before making the trip.
