Training is easier (and more fun) with friends! Join Fleet Feet over 12 weeks to train for the Madison Half and Full Marathon on November 10, 2024. Receive instruction, guidance, support, and camaraderie throughout your training! We welcome those who are targeting another fall half or full marathon.
With Fleet Feet’s Half and Full Marathon Training Program Powered by On, you’ll find a holistic training plan to help you cross the finish line feeling empowered.
Half and full marathon training isn’t just about logging miles. It’s about learning to challenge yourself incrementally, tackling different types of runs, building strength, and making space for rest and recovery. You and your fellow runners will bond as you train, learn and improve together, with plenty of support along the way.

TRAINING PROGRAM RATES
*Entry into Madison Marathon events is NOT included in your training program registration
Half Marathon
- Early Bird: $129 (until July 1, 2024)
- Regular Rate: $139 (July 2, 2024 to August 14, 2024)
- Late Registration: $149 (August 15 and after)
Full Marathon
- Early Bird: $139 (Until July 1, 2024)
- Regular Rate: $149 (July 2, 2024 to August 14, 2024)
- Late Registration: $159 (August 15 and after)

PROGRAM KICK-OFF PARTY
Saturday, August 17, 2024 @ 5:30 p.m.
Fleet Feet Madison (8440 Old Sauk Rd.)
Join us for an evening to celebrate the start of fall training! On will be on-site with shoe demos, we’ll have drinks and hors d'oeuvres, exclusive promotions, raffle items, and more! This meeting will primarily be informational and is an excellent opportunity to introduce you to the coaches and answer questions. Plan on approximately one hour of discussion. We will cover safety concerns and requirements, training plans and program details, group run protocol, the best gear for a successful training session, and discuss how we can help meet your needs this season. No running or workout involved.
SUPPORTED GROUP RUNS (2x/week)
- Wednesdays @ 6:00 p.m.
- Saturdays @ 7:00 a.m.
Group run meeting locations will rotate between west, central, and east areas of Madison to try and accommodate all Dane County residents.
- On Saturday mornings, participants are tourists in our own great city running through several popular Madison area parks and trails (e.g. Olin Park, Vilas Park, McKee Farms Park, McDaniel Park, Olbrich Park, Winnequah Park, Glacial Drumlin, Orchid Heights Park, Lakeshore Path, Capital City Trail, Lower Yahara River Trail, SW Commuter Path, etc.).
- Wednesday group runs will generally be centrally located except for days we have a seminar and/or event, in which case we will meet at one of the Fleet Feet stores (Madison or Sun Prairie).
- Participants will cover most of the Madison Marathon course throughout training.
*We will not meet as a group Labor Day weekend (August 31).
Participants are also encouraged to participate in our free mid-week fun runs. Sign up for fun runs here.
- Fleet Feet 5K - Mondays @ 6:00 p.m. (3 miles)
- Pub Runs - Thursdays @ 6:15 p.m. (3-5 miles)
NOTES/RECOMMENDATIONS
Base mileage recommendations are in place to help you stay healthy and injury free throughout the training season. Fall half and full marathon programming is designed to build on an existing fitness foundation. If you have any questions or concerns about these recommendations, please contact Megan
- Half Marathon: 4 mile long run*, 8–10 mile weekly average
- Full Marathon: 10 mile long run*, and a weekly average of 20-25 miles/week
*Either continuous run or a combination of run/walk
Our programs are inclusive to a variety of pace and ability levels. While there are no pace requirements to participate, most course time limits request participants maintain a 15-minute/mile average pace. Program participants typically range anywhere from 8:30 min/mile – 15 min/mile. The Madison Marathon requires runners to maintain around a 13:44 min/mile pace for the full marathon and ~27 min/mile pace for the half marathon.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS – WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- A complete and detailed 12-week training plan leading up to the November Madison Half or Full Marathon – training plan options based on goals and running experience.

- Recommended strength, mobility, and core workouts to balance your training

- Includes prescribed workouts on days we do not meet

- Coaching support in-person and via email to answer your questions along the way
- Organized and supported group workouts 2x/week for accountability, camaraderie, and fun. Courses contain portions of the Madison Half and Full Marathon course.
- Educational and interactive seminar series to supplement your training, including tips from pro athletes on gear, nutrition, recovery, mobility and more

- Pace group leaders on weekend long runs to help you stay on track
