Our runners are consistently rewarded with fewer injuries, farther distances and faster times!
Whether you are a first-time runner or a veteran marathoner, the 2025 Pittsburgh training program is designed to be completely customizable for every athlete. Built around the latest developments in exercise science, the workouts are written in a way that each runner can optimize their individual running, training and racing. The three phases of the program include:
- Base Period: Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE)
- Build Period: Percentage of Max Heart Rate (HRZ)
- Peak Period: Function of Goal Race Pace (GRP)
The plan utilizes the principles of periodized, progressive overload to ensure athletes are properly prepared for the event, while remaining injury-free throughout the training cycle. Step-back weeks, rest/recovery and cross-training/strength-training days are also scheduled into the program. Our team is led by passionate and knowledgable coaches, championed by dedicated and magnetic team leaders, guided by the most relevant safety standards, and fueled by the determination of our participants. Whether you are preparing to cross your first finish line, set a personal best time or achieve a qualifying standard, our Fleet Feet Pittsburgh training programs will help get you there!
