Here are some of our favorite places to run in West Lafayette, Indiana:
1. Purdue University Campus
- Length: Approximately 3.5 miles
- Surface: Paved pathways
- Address: Purdue University, 610 Purdue Mall, West Lafayette, IN 47907
Purdue University is an excellent choice for paved paths and sidewalks to log some miles. Take a loop around campus to get about 3.5 miles in or make up your own route to discover some of the amazing architecture the university has to offer.
2. Cattail Trail/Celery Bog Nature Trail
- Length: 1.5 - 4 miles
- Surface: Mostly paved paths with some trails
- Address: Celery Bog Nature Area, 1620 Lindberg Rd, West Lafayette, IN 47906
The Cattail Trail is a four-mile paved pathway through marsh and woodlands that connects to the Celery Bog Nature Trail. You can park at the Celery Bog Nature Area or Pickett Memorial Park near Purdue University. Plus, it’s a great place to go for a dog walk.
3. Wabash Heritage Trail
- Length: Varies, approximately 18 miles total
- Surface: Crushed stone, asphalt and some sections of boardwalk
- Address: Multiple access points along the Wabash River, including Tapawingo Park (100 Tapawingo Dr, West Lafayette, IN 47906)
The Wabash Heritage Trail is 18 miles of scenic trails along Burnett Creek and the Wabash River. The trail is a hotspot for bird watching and glimpsing local wildlife, so if you love nature, you’re in for a treat. A run or walk starting at the north trailhead brings you to Tippecanoe Battlefield Park and the full trail will take you through Lafayette and West Lafayette, ending at Fort Ouiatenon.
