The story starts very similar to most stories we hear.
I had never run before but a friend suggested I try it.
After attending one Wednesday night workout with Fleet Feet, I was hooked. It was the most miles I had ever run, challenging, fun & I wanted more.
Let me introduce you to Kali. This is exactly how her story started. When she started, she did what a number of new runners do, they go out too fast and too far too quickly.
Shin splints and IT Band issues arose.
One thing Kali has that many people don’t is a husband who is a medical professional specializing in foot & ankle. He was able to do a gait analysis and recommended she come in to our store to use our technology for a proper fitting.
Again, like a number of new runners, she tried Superfeet but didn’t have the confidence in them. Especially since her husband could have a heat molded insole created for her.
Fast forward 3 ½ years and Kali has become a powerhouse. Rarely missing a training day & even making time to volunteer coach for our trail program. Kali discovered trails a little less than a year into running and instantly fell in love with them. She still enjoy roads as well though and feels mixing in both has great benefits. If you haven’t already, she suggests checking out the distance and trail training programs at Fleet Feet.
When I sat down with her, she had just completed a 14-mile trail workout. She has trained for and completed a 24 hour part-trail, part-road event where she completed over 104 miles.
The reason I sat down with Kali was because she recently had purchased a pair of the ME3D insoles from Superfeet. The ME3D insole is a personalized insole created using our Pressure Plate Technology. They are less expensive than the lab made custom orthotics a medical professional can have made, but a little more advanced than the “trim-to-fit” product available in store.
Kali shared with me that she purchased them to swap out with her heat molded insole for different situations, much like so many of us runners do with our shoes. She also understood the importance of how they fit her foot and the shoes to benefit most from them. While they still have to be trimmed to fit in the shoe, they are so personalized your name comes printed on them.
Here is Kali’s personal endorsement:
I believe orthotics are an excellent tool for those that can benefit from them. While they aren’t for everyone, they can be the key to running pain free especially in pronators or those that suffer from shin splints, plantar fasciitis, IT issues, hip pain and low back pain. If someone is unsure if they’re right from them it never hurts to get an analysis at Fleet Feet or speak with a foot specialist.
