What would you try if it weren’t too crazy?
This question has sparked some creative and fun conversations in the Run to Write Community. I made a list. I love lists and one thing I wrote down was to try drawing.
What if I learned to draw a runner girl that isn’t a stick figure? I began a month ago. I’m surprised by how far I’ve come. Wow, I might be able to draw a runner girl after all.
Maybe you just crossed the finish of your first 5K and you’re thinking— do I try a half-marathon?
Or perhaps you just raced a half-marathon and wonder— what about a full? Could I handle it? Is that crazy?
YES! And it’s not too crazy.
What if you looked at the longer distance?
What if you found a community to guide, inspire, and encourage you?
What if you try and show up?
We truly don’t know what’s possible until we stretch ourselves. And I’m beginning to understand stretching with others is how we go further.
As we come to the end of another year— What can you try while you can still try?
We may think we have lots of time but we don’t. It’s a lesson I resisted in my 20s and 30s— Oh, I have plenty of time. It wasn’t until I became a mother that I realized how wrong I was. Time just gets faster and faster. It’s so precious.
Why wait for permission? Why waste time worrying about what others think? Time marches on with two choices— keep to the status quo or go make a ruckus.
Tell me what will you try in 2024 while you can still try?
Head over to Run to Write and join the conversation. We would love to grow and stretch with you!
Cheers to trying the not-too-crazy together with the precious time we have,
Julie
Onward
My feet sing
Change it up! Change it up!
Let’s go
in a new direction—
I veer to the left
thrilled…I listened
A narrow
swerving
route forward
A tunnel of color
embraces me
Leaves sprinkled
here and there
No painted lines
to obey
My legs drift
to the center
A wink
from the Sun
calls me
Onward—
Change brings
vitality to life
