A Dynamic Duo

Congratulations to Fleet Feet Fit Professional, Sydney O'Brien (on the right in the above picture) for setting a new Southeast Missouri State University women's indoor 5000m record in a smoking-fast time of 17:05, which netted her a 4th place finish in the Ohio Valley Conference Championship.  The scent of burning rubber had barely dissipated before she returned to the track the next day to run a personal record time of 10:04 in the 3000m.  Syd the Kyd is a tiny nugget of work ethic, guts, and talent - and her family at Fleet Feet couldn't be more proud of her!  We look forward to seeing what the outdoor track season holds in store before we welcome her back home for the summer.

Syd's achievement signified the passing of the Redhawk 5000m supremacy baton to her from SEMO graduate and current Fleet Feet Fit Professional, Gloria Westlake (shown to the right of Syd in the photo).  Gloria was the previous record holder - and has now moved waaaay up in distance to the marathon.  Glo's debut marathon last fall earned her a date with destiny at the 2018 Boston Marathon.

Since we fit this dynamic duo with their first-ever pairs of running shoes, we've been fortunate to watch these young women grow up before our eyes.  We are proud to now call them our Fleet Feet teammates.

Barb Delgado is the store manager at Fleet Feet St. Charles and the Head Coach of Fleet Feet Training.  She has three loves: love of teaching, love of running, and the love of bringing the first two loves together. While a teacher (and coach) in the Fort Zumwalt School District, Barb received Teacher of the Year in 2005 and coached 3 State Champions and 16 All-State Athletes in Cross Country and Track and Field. Barb, herself, is a 7-time Boston Marathon Qualifier, the 2010 Little Rock Marathon Masters Champion, 3-time Quivering Quads Half Marathon Overall Female Winner, the 2013 Indiana Trail 50 Mile Overall Female Winner, the 2014 Berryman Trail Marathon Overall Female Winner (and course record holder), and the 2015 Road Runners Club of America Regional Masters Half Marathon Champion.
