Don't Do It Alone!

FLEET FEET Training TeamIf you plan to spend this summer training for a fall half or full marathon training, DON’T DO IT ALONE!  Training solo allows you to fall into a monotony and lose sight of the challenges and empowerment provided by your long workouts.  Don't fall into the "loneliness of the long distance runner" myth.  Runners, too, are social creatures who can draw energy and motivation from others.  Whether you are just starting your path towards fitness, are returning to training after some time off, or want to reclaim your competitive drive, joining a FLEET FEET Training Team can help you.  Our novice, intermediate and advance training programs all provide:

  • Accountability:  When the alarm goes off at 5am, you may think twice about getting up for your solo long run.  But with hundreds of running pals awaiting your arrival you will hop out of bed, lace up your shoes, and hit the road.
  • Motivation:  Unlike a solo run, training with a group allows you  to draw energy from your training partners to complete those long workouts.
  • Challenge:  Training with others gets the competitive juices flowing.  If they can do it, so can you!
  • Distraction:  The minute you arrive on-site of a FLEET FEET Training Team run, you can feel the positive energy of hundreds of folks striving to achieve their ultimate goal of completing 13.1 or 26.2 miles.  If you come with any negative thoughts, they'll quickly be overwhelmed by the upbeat atmosphere.
  • Relationships:  A training group is there for you to share your experiences, learn from others, teach others, support others, be supportive, and build long-lasting relationships.  Yes, crossing the finish line is the end goal, but getting there is (more than) half the fun.  That is, unless you are training alone.
