Run and Celebrate with the Team at the Run for the Helmet

As the unofficial kickoff to the spring racing season, St. Patrick's Day is the perfect time to get the whole gang together.   So, we are calling on all FLEET FEET Racing Team members (and future members) to come join us at The Run For The Helmet 7k in Cottleville this upcoming Saturday, March 16th.  Enjoy miles and miles of Irish smiles with friends and family before hanging out with us at the FLEET FEET bus for some post race libations and camaraderie.  I am reminded of part of an old Irish blessing that I believe is rather apropos for this weekend, "May the road rise up to meet you.  May the wind always be at your back.  May the sun shine warm upon your face, as you run in your favorite Irish race."  (Okay, so I made up the last line.  But it works. right?)  We look forward to hanging out with you all.

Here's the logistics:

Packet-Pick Up and Registration - You can register or pick up your packets on March 14th and 15th from 9am through 7pm at the Cottleville Fire Station #1.  Packets (but no registration) will also be available on race morning, beginning at 6am.  Shirt sizes are not guaranteed for those who registered after March 1st and shirts are not guaranteed for those who register at packet pick-up, so do your best to pick up your packet early.

Pre-Race - Please make sure to get there early and try and park at Francis Howell Central High School.  (It may be a little rough dragging yourself out of bed, but what a great opportunity to skip the traffic and have prime parking.)  The official starting line is at the Cottleville Fire Station #1, approximately 0.4 miles from Francis Howell Central High School, so a little extra time needs to be factored in to your pre-race itinerary.

The Run for the Helmet 7K Race - The race starts near the fire station and loops through Cottleville, finishing at Sherlock's Steak & Seafood for the post-race party. Get the course map here.  The gun goes off at 8:00am (one hour earlier than last year).

Post-Race Party and Tailgate - The FLEET FEET tailgate area will be adjacent to the finish line and post-race refreshments.  Please look for the FLEET FEET blue bus and the red pop-up tents.  The FLEET FEET tailgate will consist of music, our smiling faces, light snacks, soda, water, and limited canned beer.  It'll be a great place to kick back and wait for the noon parade along Weis Rd.  If you are thinking about packing a cooler, please partner up with a buddy and bring cans only.  If cooler-packing isn't your forte, we will be right next to Sherlock's Steak & Seafood, home of the official race party.  So, pack some cash and be ready to indulge.  For the complete of the parade route and eating locations, please click here.

Slainte,
Coach Cary
