Garmin Forerunner 245
Features
The Garmin Forerunner 245 will do everything you need it to—and lots more.
Garmin's newest running watch taps into GPS, GLONASS or Galileo satellite systems to keep tabs on your daily miles; a built-in heart rate monitor lets you know when to push it or when to back off; and a 5 ATM waterproof rating means it's good down to 50 meters.
The new Foreunner 245 refreshes the outgoing Garmin Forerunner 235 by adding new features and improving some old ones.
One of the biggest additions to the 245 is Garmin's Running Awareness features. The new features give you the ability to share your exact location with friends and family so they can keep track of you while you're out running or just follow along with your race progress. Garmin also built the 245 to sync with your smartphone so you can see texts, emails and other notifications on your wrist.
Designers also improved the watch's Bluetooth capabilities and added new running metrics, like overall training load, Garmin Coach training plans and anaerobic training effect, to help you run smarter. (The Garmin Forerunner 245 Music gets additional Wi-Fi capabilities and storage and playback ability for up to 500 songs.)
In a review of the Garmin Forerunner 245, our tester loved how comfortable the watch is and how easy it is to keep track of daily and weekly mileage. She used it during training for a 100-mile race, and the ample battery life kept her running through 80-mile training weeks.
The upgrades make the lightweight, low-profile running watch an ideal partner for your training.

Excellent balance - has everything I want and then plenty of room to grow
I love NOT having a touchscreen for lots of reasons (not worrying about accidental adjustments being able to use in without precision or glasses with memorized patterns. Barcode Scanner app (codedude) holds my rec pass and other scannable cards. The precision is amazing and lock-on is ridiculously fast. With the dynamics pod you have more stats that you will know what do do with. It handles all types of running gracefully and precisely. The only bummer is that the SpO2 sensor is really bright at night (I turned it off now it is not an issue...not that it was useful in real life anyway). I can't recommend these watches enough. I got another one for my son just because I liked the style screen and size so much (and to encourage him to run more)! This watch has honestly helped me integrate running into my life in a far larger way that I would have ever anticipated. It's worth its weight in gold. Also the heartrate is 100% perfect as far as I can tell when double-monitoring. Don't cheap out and get the 45 -- it lacks about half of the really cool stuff the 245 can do (it has limited memory and is intentionally hobbled).

Love the watch! Easy to use. I like the avg pace display. Super fast shipping. Will definitely use Fleet Feet again!
Perfect Upgrade
Had a 235 previously that was used and just stopped working. This was the perfect upgrade. Not too many bells and whistles but works really well for a great price. I also love the updated slightly sleeker look. The 235 is a bit chunky for my taste
Bad bluetooth
It would not pair with my iphone 8. Tech support unable to resolve so returned.
