Here are five of our favorite places to run in Greenville.
1. Swamp Rabbit Trail
- Length: 22 miles (end-to-end), with multiple access points.
- Surface: Paved.

The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a beloved destination for runners and cyclists. This picturesque, paved trail follows the Reedy River and connects various parts of the city, making it perfect for runs of any length. Due to its flat nature, it’s a perfect location for speed workouts, and multiple races are hosted on the path each year.
2. Falls Park on the Reedy
- Length: Approximately 1.5 miles of trails and paths.
- Surface: Paved and natural trails.
- Address: 601 S Main St, Greenville, SC 29601.
Falls Park on the Reedy is a popular choice for runners who want to experience the beauty of downtown Greenville. Enjoy a run through the park's paved and natural trails while taking in the stunning waterfall views. While there isn’t a lot of ground to cover at Falls Park, it connects to the Swamp Rabbit Trail, Cleveland Park Loop, and the general downtown area, allowing you to string together as many miles as you’d like.
3. Cleveland Park Loop
- Length: Approximately 1.3 miles.
- Surface: Paved.
- Address: 150 Cleveland Park Dr, Greenville, SC 29601.
Cleveland Park is a runner-friendly urban oasis, offering a short loop around a picturesque pond. The flat, paved path is suitable for runners of all levels.
4. Conestee Nature Preserve
- Length: Multiple trail options ranging from 1 to 6 miles.
- Surface: Natural trails and boardwalks.
- Address: 840 Mauldin Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.
Conestee Nature Preserve provides a tranquil escape for runners seeking a natural environment. With various trail lengths and terrains, it's a perfect spot for those who love the outdoors. The park has 13 miles of trails, 6 of which are paved. There’s no gate admission fee, but a $3 donation is encouraged.
5. Paris Mountain State Park
- Length: up to 15 miles
- Surface: Trail
- Address: 2401 State Park Road, Greenville, SC 29609
- Admission is $6 for adults, $3.50 for kids age six to 15. Children under five are free.
Located five miles north of Greenville, Paris Mountain is the perfect place to hit the trails. The best running routes are the Lake Placid Trail, Derek’s Lazy Loop, and Sulfur Springs Loop. Altogether you can cover about 10 miles of trail, with a mix of easy and difficult running.
6. Furman University
- Length: 1.5 to 5k+
- Surface: (check - mixed, paved, dirt, grass)

Furman University is known for having a beautiful campus with lush landscaping and a 40-acre lake on campus. One of the best-known running areas there is the 1.5-mile loop that circles the lake. They also have a 5K course that winds around the scenic campus.
